The Bossier Arts Council got quite a surprise in the mail on Friday, an award letter (and check!) from the Beaird Foundation Grant Program.
Funds received will go to help cover the cost of transportation for schools to attend DigiFest South 2013. The event which is slated for September 20th and 21st is a Digital Art and Media technology showcase aimed at illuminating the talent in our region.
Started in 2012 its goal is to show that art education is more than a school elective it is a powerful vocational element and key to a well rounded education that translates to lucrative career opportunities. DigiFest demonstrates how art combined with technology leads to the innovations that shape our modern way of life and the direct contribution to strong economic development and cultural transformations.
The Carolyn W. and Charles T. Beaird Family Foundation is committed to improving the Shreveport, Louisiana, area through assisting organizations to add opportunity, freedom of action and choice, self-betterment and a climate for change to the lives of the people they serve. The foundation is particularly interested in supporting those programs which are small, local, innovative and perhaps even unpopular.
