Dr. Allison Brigham will resign from the Bossier Parish School Board, effective Friday, May 10.
Dr. Brigham is moving and establishing permanent residency outside of District 3, which encompasses Benton Elementary, Middle and High Schools, Legacy and Princeton Elementary Schools.
“I’m so thankful for the people I have met while in office,” Dr. Brigham said. “It’s the kids I truly did this for. My son was one of them. They are the greatest gifts, because they are our future. I have truly enjoyed that part.”
She is currently serving her second term as a School Board member. Dr. Brigham began her first term in January 2007 and her second in January 2011.
The mid-term vacancy left in District 3 by Dr. Brigham’s resignation will result in an interim board member being appointed at a later date, to be determined by the Louisiana Secretary of State.
“It has also been a privilege working with the educators of Bossier Parish. We have such hard working people in our system,” added Dr. Brigham.
Bossier Schools Superintendent D.C. Machen said, “We appreciate the service Dr. Brigham has dedicated to the students and employees in the Bossier Parish School System with her exemplary service during her tenure as a Bossier Parish School Board member. She has been most actively involved in fulfilling the responsibilities and representing the constituents of her district and the students and employees of the entire system. We wish her the best.”
