Navy Seaman Alexander C. Morris, a 2011 graduate of Parkway High School, assigned to USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) recently completed a successful deployment to the U.S. Navy's 5th and 7th Fleet Areas of Responsibility (AOR).
While deployed, Morris and other Sailors conducted theater security operations with partner nations in the Western Pacific and U.S. Central Command AOR while providing deterrence, promoting peace and security, preserving freedom of the seas and providing humanitarian assistance/disaster response.
Stennis steamed more than 66, 000 nautical miles, conducted 28 replenishments at sea and flew more than 10, 000 sorties totaling 30, 400 flight hours during their eight-month deployment.
The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis' (CVN 74) has stop in San Diego before returning to her homeport at Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, Wash. USS John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group consists of USS John C. Stennis, CVW-9, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 21 and guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay (CG 53).
Morris joined the Navy in January 2012.
