Amy Heron, CCLS, CIMT was recently hired by CHRISTUS Foundation Shreveport-Bossier (formerly CHRISTUS Schumpert Foundation) as the Children's Miracle Network Program Director and Development Officer.
In this new position, she will plan, organize, direct and coordinate ongoing and special project funding programs, including those related to the partnership between CHRISTUS Sutton Children’s Medical Center and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Heron worked as a Certified Child Life Specialist for four years at CHRISTUS Sutton Children’s Medical Center and three years at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Her clinical experience gives her unique insight into the special needs of hospitalized children and babies, which will benefit her as she coordinates volunteer and giving opportunities for the community.
Heron holds a bachelor of science in family relations and child development from Oklahoma State University. She was honored three times by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s employee recognition programs and was the recipient of the Star Employee Award by the American Cancer Society – Mid South Division, Inc.
Heron recently served as Chair of the Child Life Council’s 30th Annual Conference on Professional Issues in Washington, D.C. The Child Life Council is an international organization of more than 5,000 member child life specialists.
