LSU was an overwhelming choice to win the Southeastern Conference in voting by the media at the league's annual Media Days event in Birmingham, Ala.
LSU received 129 voties to 65 for runner-up Alabama. Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida and Ole Miss round out the top eight selections.
LSU also had the most first-team selections on the media's preseason All-SEC team — offensive lineman Alex Hurst, defensive linemen Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery, defensive backs Tyrann Mathieu and Ed Reid, punter Brad Wing and return specialist Mathieu.
