With the Little League district tournaments completed last week, the focus of youth baseball and softball in Bossier Parish shifts to the Dixie tournaments.
Two Bossier Dixie baseball teams — the Americans and Nationals — advanced to the final four of the AAA (9-10 year-old) sub-district tournament at Walbrook Park. Both qualified for the district tournament, which begins Friday in Minden.
The Nationals, who defeated the Americans in an elimination game Monday night, finished runner-up in the tournament after suffering a second one-run loss to the Shreveport Americans Tuesday night.
The Nationals lost 9-8 in six innings after falling 4-3 in the winners’ bracket final Sunday.

Members of the Bossier Americans are Peyton Bass, Tyler Bourcy, Trent Duckworth, Parker Hearne, Hugh-Walker Johnson, Jamal Johnson, Chris Lutterman, Matt Lutterman, Shaw Malley, Jonathan Tauzin and Trace Vorachek.
The Dixie district softball tournaments wrap up today in Minden.
Haughton advanced to the championship round of the 7-8 tournament with a win Tuesday night. Haughton, the lone undefeated team left in the tournament, faced West Monroe for the title this morning.
Monday, manager Becky Bockhaus’ team downed Minden 15-3.
Madison Trujillo had a homer. Brooklyn Buchhaus had two singles and a double, and Mia McWilliams doubled and tripled. Lexi Normand had two hits. Averis Phillips, Kelsey Coburn, Hannah Jones, Alisa Talley and Jackie Borah all added hits.
In the 9-10 division, Haughton fell to West Monroe 11-8.
Brylee Kelley struck out six batters and singled to lead Haughton. Lacy Fox singled and doubled. Haughton was eliminated from the tournament Tuesday.
Bossier fell to Union Parish 1-0 Monday. Regan Thompson struck out six batters to lead Bossier. Caroline Eason singled and struck out three. Emily Murry and Riley Dean both singled.
In the 11-12 division, Haughton dropped Minden 15-7. Mikala Delgado, Savannah Salley and Mary Claire Shaw each had two hits to lead Haughton. Courtney Garrett and Leah Hopson added singles. Haughton was eliminated Tuesday in extra innings.
Bossier downed Springhill 11-1 Monday. Lindsay Hutcheson, Makayla Strother and Brooklyn Sutton all singled to lead Bossier. Bossier played an elimination game late Tuesday.
In the 13-15 division, Bossier lost a tough 8-7 decision to West Monroe. Miranda Scotten had two hits to lead Bossier. Kendall Lewis and Rebecca Lynch both singled.
