
Two Bossier Little League All-Star teams won District IV championships and another finished runner-up.
The Bossier 11-12 All-Stars and Central Bossier 13-14 All-Stars won their respective district tournaments at Clifford Almond Park. The 9-10 Central Bossier Blue All-Stars finished second in their tournament at the Shreveport Little League Complex.
The Bossier All-Stars, managed by Ralph Hollis, completed a 3-0 run in the 11-12 tournament with an 18-3 five-inning victory over Blanchard Friday night.
Bossier advances to the 11-12 state tournament, which begins in Alexandria on July 20.
Cole Denler and Cole Haynes led Bossier with three hits each. Jonathan Brandon went 2-for-3 with a double. Lane Weeks went 2-for-4 with a double.
Noah White and Hunter Nycum had two hits each. Liam Stedman, Buzz Vorachek and Hunter Hollis had one hit apiece. Chandler King reached base on a walk.
Starting pitcher Haynes struck out four in 4 1/3 innings. Hollis got the final Blanchard batter to hit into a double play.
The Central Bossier 13-14 team, managed by Walt Ritchie, rebounded from a Friday night loss to Blanchard with a 19-9 six-inning victory Saturday night in the game that decided the title.
Central Bossier scored 10 runs in the second inning as Colt Shankle got things started with a two-run double.
Blanchard rallied to within 14-9 in the fifth, but Central Bossier scored four in its half to increase its lead to 18-9. Shankle had another two-run double in the inning.
Central Bossier scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to close it out.
Kyler Burns led off with a single. Kaleb Green came in as a pinch runner and stole second and third. Ryan Jeffrey was hit by a pitch and stole second. Nick Ritchie hit a high chopper to third and Green scored to end the game.
Justin Long, Burns and Johnny Russell pitched for Central Bossier.
Shankle went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Ryan Ubeda and Jacob Fields had two hits each. Ryan Jeffrey, Burns, Russell, Michael Minamyer, Long and Leighton Semon all had hits.
The Central Bossier All-Stars advance to the 13-14 state tournament in New Orleans.
Manager David Elledge’s Central Bossier Blue 9-10 All-Stars advanced through the losers’ bracket before falling to Shreveport Red 11-5 in the championship game Saturday night.
Central Bossier Blue defeated Shreveport Blue 17-7 Friday night to make it to the championship round.
Members of the Blue team are Jacob Wilhite, Kyle Elledge, John Michael McLain, TJ Schneider, Tyler Thurman, Ben Meister, Carson McIntosh, Taylor Williams, Carter Slack, Carson Slack, Justin Bramlett, Craig Ross and Trey Maxwell.
“I’m very proud of my boys for fighting their way through the losers’ bracket each day to make it to the championship game,” Elledge said.
Both of the Bossier team’s losses in the tournament came to Shreveport Blue.
