Haughton pitcher Thomas Stanfield has been named honorable mention on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 5A All-State baseball team.
Stanfield, a senior, went 8-3 with a 1.53 ERA. He struck out 85 in 64 1/3 innings. He also batted .380 with eight doubles, three home runs and 24 RBIs.
Haughton shared second place in District 1-5A with Captain Shreve in its first year playing in Class 5A.
Two District 1-5A players made first-team — Captain Shreve outfielder Peyton Attaway and Byrd outfiedler Richard Carton.
Barbe shortstop Gavin Cecchini was named Outstanding Player. Cecchini, expected to be a high pick in next week’s draft, hit .413 with seven home runs, 32 RBIs and 31 stolen bases.
His dad, Barbe coach Glen Cecchini, was named Coach of the Year.
